When people discuss plantation drives, they frequently overlook the costs of the drive. A plant costs roughly INR 10 on average, while the tree guard that goes around the sapling costs INR 400. When compared to a rural setting, that could be a significant sum of money.

The Indian Agri Network Trust has taken steps to reduce these costs and make plants more profitable. The first step in achieving that goal was to set up home nurseries, which brought the cost of each sapling down to just 1-2rs. The NGO then focused on planting trees in areas that already have bio fences, such as school and hospital campuses, to avoid the expenditure of installing a tree guard.
